The process of applying for a mortgage in Italy includes the following expenses: an application fee, surveyor fees, mortgage taxes, translation and insurance fees (if needed). The outcome depends on the amount requested (usually banks do not offer more than 60%-70% of the property price), nationality and financial statements of a client (often banks ask for the most recent tax return declaration which should be notarized and translated in Italian). Normally a mortgage is given from 5 to 30 years and its amount should not exceed 50,000 euros. The maximum percentage of the price should not be more than 80%. If a client is more than 70 years old, it is necessary to obtain a secondary signature of a younger relative.
